WHO I AM
A little info about me
I’m an audio designer and composer from the UK and have been working with audio for 20 years, starting with music production. I’ve had a life-long love affair with video games and audio and where to two combine is what excites and continues to drive me.
I understand and respect the team effort that goes into developing any project whether it be large or small. I put the same amount of creativity and energy into every project and love nothing more than sharing ideas and developing interesting systems from the conceptual to final stages and beyond
WHAT I DO
Below are some of the thing I focus on
Asset Creation
High quality, befitting, detailed, impactful or subtle sound design including character foley, ambient beds, emitters, combat, cutscenes, scripted events, UI and VO processing. Foley recording, synthesising and powerful use of known to niche plugins
Implementation
Implementing directly in engine or in conjunction with Wwise or FMOD. Setting up systems in blueprint that work with other disciplines synergistically. Making good use of game variables to drive interesting, complex but optimal adaptive audio
Music composition
My time is spent on audio design and implementation as well as being an active music composer. I have a strong understanding of the genre, tone and harmonic language befitting of each project and implement it effectively
Mixing
I’m always considering the mix, from the start with asset creation through to implementation and the final mix. Giving priority to the right sounds at the right time with balanced surrounds and standardised yet satisfying loudness levels
Optimisation
Focusing on multi-platform limitations to ensure audio is optimal on each system. I enjoy working closely with code and audio programmers to ensure audio has minimal expense without impacting quality
Team Work
Ability to work within a team and both provide and receive feedback. I value conversation and iteration and am comfortable in a cross-discipline environment to ensure systems are aligned. Experienced with Perforce and other source control
